Just being able to change the layout of the UI, so that things that are important to me are where I want them, and things I dont use so often can be hidden away.
Anything that has a button you can press to do something should be able to have a hotkey assigned.
And to be honest, this whole argument of not making the UI customizable so that all players are on an even level doesnt really hold water. If they wanted all players on an even level, then they would limit performance on high end machines to that of low end ones, so that EVERY player was receiving the same experience.
Getting the same experience and having the correct UI mod determine the winner or removing much of the player skill needed aren't exactly the same thing. Performance isn't really an issue, since you can tweak the setting enough to keep things playable even on crappier machines. My game will look worse than some, since I prefer performance over any other thing, but those things don't make any meaningful difference in the actual gameplay.
UI mods do make a big difference, so they make having the right UI mod a large part of what determines the winner in a fight and they will become mandatory for all competative operations. Some limited UI mods wouldn't be a problem, but you know you will also get many, that will take out a lot of the player skill needed curently. You can go read what some of those WoW mods actually do to see it very clearly.
I'm starting to favor some limited mods though, since CCPs own timetable on this issue is going to take years and even after that it will propably fail on some of the basics layed out in the posts above. The reason I'm negative on them is because the only reason I'm leaning for them is CCPs own lack of progress on this issue. They know it's crap, but for some reason they aren't putting in the effort needed to make significant progress on the matter. There have been some improvements, but the basic UI elements at the bottom seems to remain as crappy as always. Many parts of it could use some love or a total redesign at this point.
